Stress Management, Anxiety & Panic Attack
These areas in particular, are those that stand most to gain from learning the skills of self-hypnosis. Learning how to take back control through focus of attention and regain calmness from within is empowering and life giving. The physical rewards are many and are mainly about the body learning how to release tension and stress, anxiety and panic before it gets to unacceptable levels. There are differences between the three conditions and the treatment. Sometimes stress is how we react physically, emotionally and in our thoughts, to things in our environment whereas anxiety can be a constant experience that is unpleasant and wearing on the nerves and the mental health of the person.
Depression
Depression is sometimes called 'habitual' sadness. Strictly speaking only doctors can diagnose depression but on many occasions depressed people turn up at the hypnotherapy practice looking for support beyond that which doctors can provide. The use of hypnosis for the relief of clinical depression is not recommended. However a sensitive and patient approach using relaxation and cognitive strategies that focus on recovery whilst attending to any emotional difficulties resulting from depression, are useful and clients do recover from their depression.
Personal Development
Includes increasing self esteem, assertiveness and personal confidence to a balance that is right for the individual. Sometimes social confidence is an issue and affects relationship formation. Very often work relationships are difficult if the person lacks confidence to be assertive or is too defensive when feeling vulnerable. This work is so rewarding for the person as their life takes on a totally different experience, one that is more enjoyable.
